Is this thing on?

Wowsa, it's been so long since I posted I'm not sure I remember how!

This has been one crazy year for all of us.  I need to get back to this blogging thing.

Mark embarked on a career change in January.  He is now the Facilities Manager for the county Public Health department.  No more worries for me about getting shanked at work.  Yay!  Now I just have to worry about all the driving he does.  He got a "new" car in April because someone ran into the truck, along with 3 other cars, on his way home from work.  He was totally fine, but the truck went bye bye.  He seem pretty happy to be out of the Sheriffs office.  His new job is keeping him very busy, but it's something new all the time.  This is key for him because he gets bored very easy.

I am still working from home.  My hours picked up this year and it looks like they may again for the next school year.  As long as I can be here to get the kids to and from school, I'm ok with that.  It's the best job ever because they have allowed me so much flexibility.  I had a rough spring and am still working issues out.  I found out at the beginning of February that I might have Thyroid cancer.  They found a lesion on my thyroid and the only way to know if it is cancerous is to remove and test.  I opted to have the entire thyroid removed because I had nodules on both sides.  Turns out, it was cancerous.  I was prepared for it and so thankful that I decided to do the whole thing.  I had a 5 night stay in the hospital because my calcium levels were too low post surgery.  I had a radioactive iodine treatment in April and then a scan.  No further cancer was detected, so I'm in the clear.  They will scan me once a year to make sure it remains that way.  My surgeon was awesome and he feels confident it was really early and he got it all.  3 months post op the endocrinologist is still working on my meds.  It'll take time to get me to a place of normalcy for my metabolism, fatigue, etc.  I'm just so thankful to have it done and over with.

Sierra lost several more teeth, grew out her hair, picked a new paint color for her room, and is finished with 2nd grade. She had a good year. We are 2 weeks into summer and she's bored already.  She did a year of dance and LOVED it.  But, she isn't sure she wants to continue.  Sierra definitely hasn't found her passion.  She is trying to decide between dance, softball, or swimming for the next year.  She is an awesome big sister and plays so well with Andon 95% of the time.
Andon made some new friends this year via my MOM's group. His bestie is his birthday buddy Trey. He is obsessed with that kiddo. He has become a complete chatterbox. Seriously talks non-stop! It's awesome, most of the time. We are gearing up to start Kindergarten Prep in August. I'm sad and happy all at the same time.  He played t-ball this spring and had a blast!  He earned the nickname T-Rex because he ran the bases like a dinosaur.  Andon is all boy and such a happy kid.  He can't get enough of dinosaurs.

We are off to Vegas this summer to visit my dad.  Mark can't wait to show the kids the strip.  I think they could care less.  Sierra just wants to go to the Sugar Factory and get candy.  That's about it for summer vacay plans for us.  We have a BIG trip planned to San Diego for the fall.  I cannot wait.

Durango

We spent a week in Durango in July with Mark's family.  We stayed at an amazing cabins with even more amazing views.  I think I could have sat and looked out at the trees and mountains for hours.

We spent time at Vallecito Lake, went to Purgatory to ride the alpine slide, played games & horseshoes and relaxed.  Everyone went zip lining (well, Grandma, Andon & I didn't)  The only negative, for me, was the altitude.  We just did not get along and enduring daily headaches was awful.  It's just one more reason I think I'm destined to leave near the beach.  Just need to win that powerball and make it happen.

My Grandpa Sowers used to go here every Sunday

Look at her go!

That spec on the right slide is Sierra

3

How on earth did my youngest child turn 3 already?  I swear we just came home from the hospital.

At 3, our sweet little man is just such a joy.  He is obsessed with all things dinosaur.  I've read more books, watched Dinosaur 40 times in 3 weeks, and pronounced more strange names than I ever thought possible.  I even found dinosaur underwear to entice him to be potty trained.  (More on that in a different post)

He is so much like Mark, it's scary.  Not just in looks.  He can't ever sit still, if he does we know we are in for sick germs.  He loves to play, play, play.  When he is sick, he is a carbon copy of his dad, Grandpa B, and Uncle Kevin.  This is not a compliment.  I mean I want to jump from a moving vehicle when he's sick.  But, he is such a sweet boy always wanting to be with his sister.  Saying I love you out loud all the time and signing it as well.  He simply melts my heart and saves me every year at this time.

I love you little man!  I hope you always have such a happy heart and love for your family.

7

Our sweet girl turned 7 on June 7th. We just so happened to be at the Happiest Place on Earth that day. She, Emily, and Andon had such a great day. They are still talking about it. So in honor of her 7th birthday here are just 7 things that I love about her.

*Her sweet disposition with her brother. I can only pray that this relationship stays the same.

*Her adorable, toothless smile

*The way her face lights up when a favorite song comes on (currently Justin Bieber & Lemonade Mouth).

*Her laugh.

*I love that she loves to read and write stories for us all the time.

*Her love for her family.

*Everything else. She is just the sweetest girl a parent could ask for.

I was and am a lucky mama to have been blessed with such a bright, happy girl. I love you Sierra Cadence!

10 years

I'm so behind, but I can't let our 10 year anniversary go without a post. The past 10 years have been filled with love, laughter and tears. I am so blessed to have found my life partner in Mark. He supports me in everything I do. Even when I painted our nightstands turquoise this spring, he just smiled because he knew it made me happy. On paper we don't have a thing in common, but we simply work. It really is the perfect balance for raising children and taking care of the house. He still has the ability to make me laugh and we'd be in big trouble if we couldn't laugh at ourselves and life. We may not get to spend the amount of time alone together that I would like, but I know at the end of the day our love will see us through.

Happy 10th Anniversary Mark! I love you always and forever.

Love them

Just a little picture from our time in the snow outside of Payson last month. These 3 people are my whole world.
